Calorie Calculator

Calculate your daily calorie needs based on your age, gender, weight, height, and activity level

Understanding Calorie Needs

Your daily calorie needs are determined by your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and your activity level. BMR represents the calories your body burns at rest for basic functions like breathing and circulation.

How We Calculate

We use the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation, which is considered one of the most accurate formulas for calculating BMR. This is then multiplied by your activity level to get your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

Activity Levels Explained

  • Sedentary: Little or no exercise, desk job
  • Lightly Active: Light exercise 1-3 days per week
  • Moderately Active: Moderate exercise 3-5 days per week
  • Very Active: Hard exercise 6-7 days per week
  • Extra Active: Very hard exercise, physical job, or training twice per day

Important Notes

  • These are estimates and individual needs may vary
  • Quality of calories matters - focus on nutrient-dense whole foods
  • Extreme calorie restriction can be harmful - consult a healthcare provider
  • Sustainable weight changes typically occur at 0.5-1 kg per week
